Cambridge, Mass – East Cambridge Savings Bank today announced that Erika Morales has recently joined the bank as Community Development Mortgage Officer. In this role, Morales will identify prospective clients and originate loans. She will be focused on serving the needs of low- to moderate-income areas, such as the vibrant gateway cities the bank serves, including Chelsea, Revere, Lynn, and Everett. Morales will also serve as the primary liaison between Spanish-speaking customers and the bank and guide them through the mortgage and homebuying process. Her first day with the Cambridge-based mutual bank was April 21.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Erika to East Cambridge Savings Bank, and we’re excited to have a bilingual mortgage officer who can connect with a growing and dynamic customer base that is looking to buy a home in many of the communities we serve,” said Mark Simone, sales manager and residential loan officer. "Bringing on a Spanish-speaking loan officer has been a long-standing goal, and Erika is the ideal candidate to assist customers throughout the entire mortgage process. We understand that navigating the mortgage and home-buying journey can be challenging, but Erika and the entire ECSB team are dedicated to making it as smooth, accessible, and straightforward as possible."

“It’s a pleasure to join a bank that has such a strong commitment to serving gateway communities and knows that a loan officer with a community development background can make a difference for our customers,” Morales said. “I look forward to working with the team here and making connections with clients and communities so I can work with them as they purchase their new home.” According to MassInc Policy Center, Gateway Cities are “midsize urban centers that anchor regional economies around the state” and “are home to 27% of Massachusetts residents and nearly 40% of our state’s foreign-born population. Collectively, they are majority-minority since 2020.”

Prior to joining East Cambridge Savings Bank, Morales held mortgage originator roles at Citizens Bank, Santander Bank, Bank of America, and Metro Credit Union. She holds a degree in business administration and management from Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and resides in Lynn, Mass., with her family.
