East Cambridge Savings Bank stands ready to support our customers and community during this federal shutdown. With many government employees unpaid and vital programs like SNAP on hold, we are committed to stepping up in times of widespread need.
What we’re doing for affected customers
Effective immediately—and retroactive to October 1—we will, upon request, provide the following to federal employees whose income has been interrupted by the shutdown:
- Fee relief: Waive overdraft, maintenance, and foreign ATM fees on ECSB accounts incurred on or after 10/1/25 through the end of the shutdown.
- CD access: Allow partial certificate-of-deposit withdrawals with no early-withdrawal penalty.
- Personal bridge loan: Up to $10,000 at 0% APR for first six months. Contact us for more details.
- Mortgage hardship option: Up to three months of interest-only payments on ECSB mortgage, all other escrows would apply.
How we’re supporting our communities
Throughout November, all banking centers will collect non-perishable food donations for local pantries experiencing higher demand. The Bank will also donate $12,000 total—$1,000 to each designated organization.
How you can get involved
- Donate food - Bring non-perishable food items to your local banking center.
- Be a connector - If you know a federal employee who banks with us and is impacted, encourage them to contact us about relief options.
