Cambridge, Mass. – East Cambridge Savings Bank today announced the appointment of John McCabe as Senior Vice President, Retail Banking and Security Officer. McCabe will lead and oversee the bank’s retail banking division, Customer Service Call Center, Investment Advisor, Community Development Officer, and Facilities Department. A veteran of the Massachusetts banking industry with over 30 years of experience in retail banking, McCabe joined the bank on Oct. 14 and reports to executive vice president and chief banking officer Richard Olson.
McCabe joins the Cambridge-based mutual bank from Abington Bank, where he served as SVP of Retail Banking since 2019. Prior to that, McCabe held roles at HarborOne Bank, East Boston Savings Bank, and Citizens Bank, among others. His career traces its roots to Cambridge—McCabe began his career at BayBank’s flagship branch in Harvard Square.

McCabe is a graduate of the New England School for Financial Studies at Babson College, the Dale Carnegie Program, and Dublin Business School, Ireland. He resides in Weymouth, Mass.
