The Women's Edge and Boston Globe Magazine Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts Logo for 2022 Cambridge, Mass – East Cambridge Savings Bank, a $1.6 billion in assets mutual bank, today announced that it is part of the 22nd annual list of Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts compiled by The Women’s Edge (formerly The Commonwealth Institute) together with its partner The Boston Globe. These 100 organizations generated nearly $76 billion in total revenue in 2021, demonstrating that women are key drivers of the Commonwealth’s economy. East Cambridge Savings Bank and its president and chief executive officer Gilda M. Nogueira, were recognized at a breakfast event on October 28 in Boston attended by the companies and women leaders being honored, as well as Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.

“East Cambridge Savings Bank has had the distinction of being included on the list of the top 100 women-led businesses in Massachusetts for six years in a row, and it continues to be an honor to be counted among these dynamic leaders,” said Gilda M. Nogueira. “The Bank has a long and proud history of promoting employees from diverse backgrounds and encouraging our staff to grow both professionally and personally. In addition to being a women-led organization, we are fortunate to have a diverse and vibrant workforce that reflects the great communities we serve.”

In addition to a woman serving as president and chief executive officer, East Cambridge Savings Bank’s senior leadership team is 75% female, and has an overall workforce that is 55% female.

“The organizations on this year’s diverse list are driving innovation across the country, from increased manufacturing capacity to breakthroughs in clinical care and therapeutics” said The Women’s Edge chief executive officer Elizabeth L. Hailer. “We are honored to celebrate the Top 100 women leaders and hope it inspires others to drive for success here in our region and beyond.”

This is the 22nd year that The Women’s Edge – a Boston-based nonprofit organization devoted to advancing women in leadership positions — created the list through a nomination process and reviewed both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, and the 10th year that the list was created in collaboration with The Boston Globe. In addition to revenue or operating budget, factors considered in the evaluation included workplace and management diversity, board makeup, and innovative projects. The full list was published in the Globe Magazine’s Women & Power issue at Globe.com/magazine on October 28 and in print on October 30.

“We're proud to once again partner with The Women’s Edge to recognize these 100 remarkable companies—and the remarkable women who lead them,” said Globe Magazine editor Francis Storrs. “It's a privilege to celebrate this year’s honorees for all they’ve accomplished, and for the example they're setting for future generations of leaders.”
